Research Peptide Quality Standards: What Good Looks Like

Per-lot documentation, not per-product

Quality is a property of a lot, not of a product name. A supplier that publishes one certificate for a catalogue item indefinitely is telling you nothing about the vial they ship you next month.

The baseline expectation is a certificate generated for each manufactured lot, retrievable by the lot number printed on the vial.

Testing scope

Define acceptance criteria for the laboratory application, then request method-specific evidence: chromatographic purity, the identity method actually performed and measured net peptide content where available. Mass spectrometry can provide complementary molecular-mass evidence, but a description of the technique is not proof that a supplier performed it. Endotoxin, sterility, water content and residual solvents require separate suitable tests when relevant.

Consistency and traceability

Comparing purity, retention time and impurity profiles across lots can help identify variation, provided the methods and sample preparation are comparable. Similar results alone do not prove that a manufacturing process is under control.

Novanta publishes independent laboratory reports for the listed lots on its Certifications page. Review the certificate matching the vial's lot number for the actual HPLC purity, stated identity method and any additional tests. The currently posted reports do not include peptide mass-spectrometry results; no universal 99%+ purity or every-lot documentation claim is made.
