Why Third-Party Testing Matters

In-house data can be excellent and still be unverifiable. Independent testing removes the incentive problem entirely.

The incentive problem

A manufacturer testing its own material has a direct financial interest in the result. That does not make in-house data wrong, but it makes it unverifiable from outside, and unverifiable data cannot support a purchasing decision.

An independent laboratory with no stake in the outcome removes that structural conflict.

What independence actually requires

A named laboratory, on its own letterhead, with its own report number and contact details. A logo pasted onto a supplier-formatted document is not third-party testing.

The sample chain matters too: a certificate is only as good as the assurance that the tested sample came from the lot being sold.

How to verify

Match the lot number on the vial to the certificate. Check that the analysis date follows the manufacturing date. Compare the reported mass against the theoretical mass yourself. If anything does not reconcile, ask before you use the material.
