How Research Peptides Are Packaged

Type I glass, elastomeric stoppers, aluminium crimp seals and headspace. Every element of the vial exists for a reason.

The vial

Research peptides are packaged in Type I borosilicate glass, the most chemically resistant pharmaceutical glass grade. It resists leaching of alkali ions into the contents, which matters because trace metal contamination catalyses oxidation.

Stopper and seal

The stopper is an elastomeric closure designed to reseal after needle puncture, often with a fluoropolymer-laminated face to reduce interaction with the contents. The aluminium crimp seal holds the stopper under compression and maintains the container's integrity.

A flip-off cap covers the septum until first use. Once removed, the septum should be wiped with alcohol before every entry.

Headspace and labelling

Many lyophilized products are sealed under inert gas or partial vacuum to reduce oxygen exposure in the headspace. That is also why a vial can pull diluent in slightly when first punctured.

The label carries the compound, the fill mass and — critically — the lot number that ties the vial back to its certificate of analysis.
