Molecular overview
Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of human growth hormone-releasing hormone. Its sequence was engineered to retain receptor activity while resisting rapid enzymatic cleavage relative to the native releasing hormone.
The molecule is scientifically distinct from growth hormone itself: it is studied as a ligand at the GHRH receptor rather than as a replacement for growth hormone.
Research pathways
GHRH-receptor activation is coupled to cyclic-AMP signaling in pituitary somatotroph systems, where it is associated with pulsatile growth-hormone release and downstream IGF-1 signaling. Those pathway measurements are common experimental endpoints but do not justify extrapolating beyond the conditions studied.
Published-research summary
Unlike most compounds in this library, tesamorelin has an FDA-reviewed clinical record. Its approved indication is limited to reducing excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy; the FDA label expressly notes that long-term cardiovascular safety has not been established and that it is not indicated for weight-loss management.
That approved history should not be confused with the status of research material or used to support other clinical claims.
Analytical testing methodology
Peptide identity can be checked against expected molecular mass, while reversed-phase HPLC is used to resolve and quantify peptide-related peaks. The Novanta lot report below supplies the actual third-party result for the listed research lot.
Storage and stability
Published handling directions for approved tesamorelin products are formulation-specific and should not be transferred to unrelated material. For laboratory work, keep lyophilized material sealed, dry and protected from light, then establish a protocol-specific solution stability window using the exact formulation and container under study.
